Stakeford Medical Center (12/21, 7:23 pm)
Dr. Nora Green rushes past the lobby area. She is soon in a brightly lit hallway, her shoes clacking against the tile floor. A nurse is following slightly behind her, trying to catch up.
"I've already filled Mr. Lee in on the situation with Danielle Douglas," he says. "He'll be here any second."
"Good. We need someone like him right now," Dr. Green says. She takes a deep breath. "Last thing this town needs is for the mayor's daughter to keel over, especially over something like this. Jackson can't get here fast enough."

Jackson was napping lightly in the living room of his single bedroom apartment, the TV quietly played in the background. He awoke suddenly to the sound of his radio beeping loudly, like it always would when an emergency call would come in. Then came the steady voice of the female dispatcher. "Stakeford Ambulance, you are needed at the Stakeford Medical Center for a victim of a vehicular accident. Once again, Stakeford Ambulance, report to Stakeford Medical Center, code 3." Code 3 meant all lights and sirens blazing, so it must have been an awful incident. Swiftly donning his work coveralls, of which EMS in reflective tape was on his back, Jackson grasped his radio and left his apartment quickly. He only lived across the street from the Ambulance bay, so getting to work was always convenient.

En route to the Medical Center, Jackson recieved a call from Dr. Green who advised him of what had happened. It was nasty. Danielle was only walking home from from work when she was struck from behind by a vehicle. Details were sketchy beyond that, but that was the job for the police to investigate the incident. Jackson had a patient who needed saving, but unfortunately the clinic could do little more than stabilize Danielle and dress her wounds.
*************************************
Lights and siren blazing, the ambulance arrived at the front door of the Clinic where the Sheriff was now waiting as well as a nurse. Jackson parked the rig and applied the parking brake which caused the engine to idle at a higher RPM so that the rig had plenty of power for the electronics inside and out. While his co-worker was busy getting the gurney from the back of the ambulance, Jackson rushed inside to assist Dr. Green.
"Nora. What do we have?" Jackson asked, setting aside all emotion to focus on the task at hand.
"Struck from behind, blunt force, a vehicle by witness accounts," The sheriff piped up.
"I didn't ask you Sheriff," Jackson impatiently replied before looking to Nora as he pulled on the purple medical grade gloves.
"BP extremely low, punctured lung, fractured and broken ribs. Possible spinal injuries, pupils dilated and sluggish. I've lost her pulse 4 times since she got here, but haven't had to revive her yet. Her pulse is rapid and weak. There may be internal bleeding, but if there is, I haven't found it yet," Dr. Green fired off all that info in rapid succession, "and you know the Clinic isn't equipped to handle this bad an injury."
"But you got her stable, which is perfect." Jackson replied rushed but assuredly, taking his stethoscope to listen carefully to Danielle's chest. By that time, Jackson's co-worker arrived with the gurney and c-collar to stabilize Danielle's head during transport.
*********************************
Transferring Danielle to the gurney, she was rolled out to the ambulance, Jackson and his co-worker hoisted her into the back of the ambulance. Closing the rear doors after his co-worker climbed into the back to begin her work on Danielle, Jackson was approached by the Sheriff who said, "I need your report on this-"
"Fucking Christ, Sheriff, not now!" Jackson exclaimed, as he rushed to the cab of the ambulance, climbing in. "You'll have it when I get back, and not a minute sooner. You should know better, Sheriff." Jackson tersely spoke, slamming the drivers side door shut. Angrily eyeing the sheriff, Jackson picked up his radio and spoke to dispatch, "Stakeford Ambulance Unit 2 en route to Pierre. Request Highway patrol escort for traffic control." As dispatch responded in the affirmative to his request, Jackson disengaged the parking brake, put the ambulance in gear, and pulled out of the clinic parking lot, red and white lights blazing as the siren wailed away into the evening night. The evening was eerily still, which deep down unnerved Jackson.
(I received permission from Hollis to roleplay Dr. Green and the sheriff a bit for this post. This is due to some of my firsthand RL knowledge in emergency medical events. The permission extends to this post only unless Hollis states otherwise.)

Re: Stakeford Medical Center (12/21, 7:23 pm)
A couple of hours have since gone by. The hospital in Pierre was swamped with patients however, due to the closeness of the holidays. The ER doctors there felt it easier for Jackson and his co-worker to transport Danielle back to Stakeford once her more severe injuries were repaired. Jackson was well on his way back to Stakeford, emergency lights flashing as he transported Danielle's unconscious but repaired body back to the Stakeford Medical Center. Jackson reached for a flip cell phone in the cupholder and opened it up, dialing Dr. Green. "Nora, it's Jackson. ER docs in Pierre said she was fixed up enough to come back, as long as she's under your care. We're on our way back, see you in a few."
**************
Only a few minutes later, Jackson pulled into the medical center's ambulance bay, where he could off-load Danielle. Backing in slowly, he then stopped, turned the lights off, then hopped out of the ambulance and jogged to the rear. He opened the rear door and got ready to off-load Danielle when Jackson's co-worker shouted. "SHE'S CRASHING!"

The paramedics rush Danielle inside the Stakeford Medical Center. Jackson pushes her along the stretcher toward the emergency room, and they begin work immediately. Dr. Nora Green is calm and collected while receiving as the latest updates from Jackson. While she speaks clearly and decisively, she does not come across as either cold or ignorant of the emergency they are facing. She is in control of herself, so she can be in control of the situation.
When she turns next to Danielle, however, the young woman's condition has suddenly taken a drastic turn for the better. To the confusion of everyone in the room, she is now doing just fine. Whatever had happened to her in the ambulance bay had already reversed itself. Dr. Green whispered to herself, and partly to Jackson, "It's a miracle." However, Dr. Green said that out automatically, unthinkingly. Someone with Dr. Green's sympathies hardly believed in such things as miracles, of course, but whatever had happened with Danielle Douglass was at the very least a mystery it was her job to solve.
"We need to continue to monitor her closely," Dr. Green snaps. She takes a deep breath. "In case it happens again. In case anything happens."
